Shri Ram Singh is a progressive dairy farmer from Tarawadi (Taraori), District Karnal, Haryana, renowned for his dedicated efforts towards the conservation, breeding and promotion of indigenous Sahiwal cattle. Along with his brother Shri Naresh Singh, he has developed a large Sahiwal dairy farm and adopted scientific dairy-farming practices. In recognition of his outstanding contribution to indigenous cattle-based dairy farming, Shri Ram Singh secured 1st Rank in the National Gopal Ratna Award 2023 under the category of Best Dairy Farmer Rearing Indigenous Cattle/Buffalo Breeds. He received the award on National Milk Day, 26 November 2023, in Guwahati. Through his successful dairy enterprise, practical experience and interaction with fellow farmers, Shri Ram Singh serves as an important farmer-to-farmer resource person and role model for promoting indigenous cattle, sustainable dairy farming and improved livestock management. His association with agricultural and dairy-development programmes provides an opportunity for farmers and extension personnel to learn from his practical experience.
