| Duration |
The duration of Master in dairying is three
years for graduates in pure sciences and two
years for graduates with four years
professional degrees. However, it will be three
years for those admitted to Master in Dairying
(Dairy Engineering) with B.Sc./ B.Tech.(DT).
Admission shall be made on the basis of
merit through All India Entrance Examination
conducted by the Education Division, Indian
Council of Agricultural Research, Krishi
Anusandhan Bhavan-II, Pusa, New Delhi.

| Procedure for Application |
Master in Dairying (other than in-
service candidates)
Admission shall be made on the basis of merit through All India Entrance Examination conducted by the Education Division, Indian Council of Agricultural Research, Krishi Anusandhan Bhavan-II, Pusa, New Delhi.
- Application for admission shall be made in the prescribed form meant for the purpose.
- The application form bears a serial number at the top left corner on page 1. This number, as well as the main subject to which the admission is sought, must be quoted in all correspondence regarding admission to this Institute.
- All correspondence for admission of in- service candidates should be addressed to the Joint Director, National Dairy Research Institute, Karnal-132001 (Haryana). For all important dates please see important instructions on the back of cover page.
- In order to obtain acknowledgement for the receipt of the application by the Institute, candidates are advised to send their applications by registered post, acknowledgement due in the envelop attached with the application form.
- Application for admission must be completed in block letters. All entries in the application form must be filled up and attested copies of the following certificates and documents (original certificate should not be sent with the application form) are to be attatched, failing which the application is liable to be rejected.
a) Certificate for date of birth.
b) Certificates of all examinations passed starting from Matriculation to Bachelor’s Degree.
c) Mark lists indicating percentage of marks in each subject, total marks and class obtained, etc. of all examinations passed.
d) A certificate from the Principal/Dean of College indicating the marks/division obtained at the Bachelor’s Degree examination passed.
e) In case of SC/ST candidate, a certificate from a first class Magistrate of a District/Competent Authority indicating that the candidate belongs to a particular SC/ST category which is included in the latest list appended to the constitution of India, SC/ST 1950. Application without such certificate will be considered against unreserved seats only.
f) Three recent passport size photographs duly attested should be affixed at appropriate place of the Application/Admit Card.
- (6) All original certificates and marks sheet are to be produced at the time of registration. Candidates who do not produce all the original certificates and mark sheets will not be admitted.
- If a candidate willfully furnishes wrong information or suppresses any relevant information, his/her candi-dature/ admission will automatically stand cancelled.
- Admit Card will be issued to the in-service candidates who are eligible to appear in interview. If a candidate does not receive the Admit Card for interview or other information from the Institute one week before the date of interview, he/she should contact University Office at Telephone/FAX/E-mail numbers given on back of cover page.

Entrance Examination & Selection Procedure |
- The Entrance examination is conducted by the ICAR New Delhi at several locations in the country.
- The sale of Information Bullletins including application forms is arranged by the ICAR through Registrars of State Agricultural Universities and Deemed Universities of ICAR.
- The result of Entrance Examination is declared by the ICAR on it’s website (www.icar.org.in)
- The ICAR conducts the Counseling for admission at National Agricultural Science Centre (NASC) Complex, Dev prakash Shastry Marg, Pusa Campus, New Delhi on specified dates.
- Candidates admitted at NDRI have to deposit Rs. 2000/- as part of regular fees to confirm their admission and issue of admission letter by the ICAR.
- Those candidates who opt for admission in other universities are not entitled to get wait listed.
- Such candidates who are not able to get admission at NDRI and opt for not to join at any other university, are eligible to exercise the option of getting wait listed.
- The waiting list is prepared by the ICAR and operated by NDRI for filling up the seats which fall vacant due to non reporting of selected candidates or leaving after joining.
- The schedule for operation of waiting list is announced by NDRI on the website and also braught to the notice of wait listed candidates during counseling at New Delhi.
- The wait listed candidates in each group will be considered for admission in only those disciplines which are listed against their names in the waiting list. They will not be considered for other subjects in the same group even if the seats remain vacant.
- No candidate will be considered for admission in disciplines outside the group for which she/he has been wait listed even if the seats remain vacant.
- Individual letters or communications are not given by NDRI for counseling schedules out of the waiting list.
- There is no provision of migration from any other university to NDRI and vice versa.

In-Service Candidates and Their Selection Procedure |
Vice-Chancellors/ Directors/ Head of the Institutions
concerned may depute their faculty/ employees for
admission to Master and Doctoral Programmes
subject to following conditions:
- The candidate must be fully sponsored by
his/ her employer.
- The candidate must fulfill the eligibility
conditions for admission to Master in
Dairying: Candidates having Bachelor’s Degree in the
relevant field as given below must have
obtained atleast 60% marks or an overall
grade point average (OGPA) of 6.50 out of
10.00 or 3.25 out of 5.00 or 2.60 out of 4.00
(For SC/ST candidates 55% marks of OGPA
of 6.00 out of 10.00, 3.00 out of 5.00 or 2.40
out of 4.00) or a certificate from Registrar of
having OGPA equivalent to 60% marks.
- The candidates should be in permanent
employment under Central/ State/ Govt. or
Universities and must have three years
experience in the relevant field as on the
closing day for receipt of applications.
- In-service candidates shall be admitted over
the above the seats as mentioned in table Master in Dairying with the approval of the Director.
- The Applications duly completed with all
documents (including Form-A) should be forwarded by the Vice-Chancellor/ Director/
Head of Institution so as to reach Registrar,
NDRI Deemed University on or before the
closing date. Direct application by the
candidate or advance copy shall not be
accepted.T
- here will be no Entrance Examination, the
eligible candidates will have to appear for
personal interview at Karnal.
- The admission of in-service candidates will be
decided on merit after taking into account their
Academic Score (85%) and marks obtained
in interview (15%). The minimum qualifying
marks in the interview shall be 60% of the
maximum marks prescribed, candidates failing
in the interview will not be admitted.
- The applications of ineligible candidates shall
be rejected.

Academic Score
The Academic Score of in-service candidates
will include the weightage of applicant’s
academic record from SSLC/Matric onwards.
The Academic Score will be calculated as

| Age Limit |
Minimum age limit shall be 19 years on or before 31-12-2009. Normally there will be no upper age limit. No relaxation is admissible regarding the minimum age limit.

| Foreign Students |
- Foreign students seeking admission at this Institute shall have to submit their applications through their respective Embassies at New Delhi or the respective Indian Missions in their countries to the Govt. of India, Department of Agricultural Research and Education, Krishi Bhavan, New Delhi-110001 and the candidature of foreign students shall be considered only if they are sponsored with financial support by
(a) their respective Governments or
(b) the Government of India.
- The nominees of foreign countries and those given under clause 10.1 should have the equivalent qualifications required for admission. In their cases, the percentage of marks will not be insisted. They should possess the requisite qualification in the concerned discipline and its cognate branches. A good knowledge of English is essential. A certificate of the candidate’s proficiency in English, issued by the respective Indian Mission abroad, should accompany their application for admission. Further, the foreign students are required to be in possession of visa.
- All the foreign students other than those sponsored by the Government of India with suitable fellowship such as ITEC Program. General Cultural Scholarship and Cultural Technical Exchange will be charged Institutional Economic Fee @ US $ 400/- p.m. or US $ 4000/- p.a. This fee will be over and above other usual charges of the University.
- Last date for receipt of application, results and mark sheet from the applicant, who are Foreign Nationals will be the same as prescribed for Indian citizens. 10.5 As per directive from the Govt. of India, Ministry of Health, New Delhi, health check for foreign students including that for AIDS is mandatory. Foreign students will subject themselves for health check within one month of arrival and till the results are known the students will be admitted provisionally. Their admission is to be confirmed on production of fitness certificate from the competent authority.

| Award of Medals and Merit Certificates |
"Director's Gold Medal" is awarded to the students who secure first position and "Merit Certificate" is awarded to the students who secure second position in each group i.e. Production, Processing and Management provided that he/ she has obtained at least 70% marks and completed all the courses prescribed for the degree successfully in the first attempt.
Note: - In case a student has been punished for act of indiscipline during the course of study at NDRI, he/ she may be debarred from the award of Director's Gold Medal/ Merit Certificate. |
