Origin and Distribution: Found in Tarai area of Uttarakhand, particularly between Tanakpur and Ramnagar . This breed is raised in the Agra and Etawa districts of Uttar Pradesh and in the Bhind and Morena districts of Madhya Pradesh (India).

Physical Characteristics:
Size: Moderate body size.
Color: Color varies from black to brown .Sometime there is white blaze on the forehead.
Horns: Horns are long and flat with coils bending backwards and upwards.
Head: Head slightly convex at the centre, drooping towards the base of the horns.
Tail: Tail is long reaching below the hocks. Tail switch is white.

Height at withers of adult male is 127 cm.
Height at withers of adult female is 120 cm.
Adult body weight is 375 kg in males and 325 kg in females.
Milk per day is 2-3 kg.
Average milk production 450 kg
Lactation period about 250 days.
Milk fat 6.6-8.1 percent
Milk protein 4.2-4.6 percent
